THE THREE MAIN DEPARTMENTS

MOULD SHOP

The Mould Shop is divided into two sections
A) Compression Moulding
B) Injection Moulding
i) Thermoset
ii) Thermoplastic

Compression Moulding

Here the raw material urea formaldehyde is deposited in predetermined amounts automatically into the cavities. The Core and Cavity halves are engaged and curing commences. During the total cycle of approximately 2 minutes there is a brief withdrawal to release the accumulation of gases and then curing is completed before the cured mouldings are ejected. A finishing operation is required either by the wheelabrator – in the case of base moudings, rockers and some other moulding – and in the case of front plates cleaning of apertures and edge cleaning is undertaken as 2nd operations using deflashing tools on Holts Presses.

Injection Moulding

Powder loaded into the hopper is plasticized and forced into the cavities when curing commences. Cycle time is considerably faster than compression, generally around 1 minute. The completed components are ejected at the conclusion of the cycle. Using submarine gateing deflashing operations are kept to a minimum.

PRESS SHOP

Simple flat press parts are produced using a CVA dieing press. The flat steel is fed via a coil feed and straightening mechanism, and the components are produced by a blow procedure. The scrap is separated and collected for disposal and the completed components collected in work blows for degreasing and ultimate usage.

ASSEMBLY

According to product various method of assembly are used. Basically by riveting, spinning and screwing, using performed assembly jigs the various components are located and held in the mouldings ensuring proper electrically tested, either on 100% or 10% basis as required by the appropriate company procedure.
